Provisional 2019 Results Show Improvement

Our official results will be published in the Autumn, but I am pleased to be able to share our provisional results now.

We have made advances in nearly all areas, including a 10% gain in Year 2 reading (64% to 74%) and a 13% gain in Year 6 maths (58% to 71%). We are now at or close to national averages in most subjects.

Year R: 74% are at a Good Level of Development (GLD) – the national average was 72% last year.

Year 1 Phonics: 80% passed the check – the national average was 83% last year.

Year 2 Reading: 74% are at Expected Standard (EXS) with 28% at Greater Depth Standard (GDS) – these were 75% and 26% nationally in 2018.
Year 2 Writing: 65% are EXS and 4% are GDS – this is lower than the national average (70% / 16%) and will be an area for development in 2019-20.
Year 2 Maths: 73% are EXS and 15% are GDS – these were 76% and 22% nationally in 2018. We will be working on having more GDS mathematicians next year.

Year 6 Reading: 71% are at Expected Standard (EXS) with 23% at Greater Depth Standard (GDS) – the 2019 national average is 73% - no GDS data is available yet.
Year 6 Writing: 64% are EXS and 6% are at GDS – this is lower than the national average (78%) and will be an area for development in 2019-20.
Year 6 Maths: 71% are at EXS and 19% are at GDS – the 2019 national average is 79% - no GDS data is available yet. Despite the 13% improvement from 2018, we will continue to ensure we make further gains in maths we are at the national average in future.
Year 6 RWM: 50% of children were EXS in reading, writing and maths – although this is improving year on year(it was just 32% in 2017), we are still 15% below the national average. Further improvements in maths and writing will help us get this higher in the future.

We are pleased with our results – and what the children achieved – this year, but we know there is more to be done so we are regularly in-line with or better than the national average in all subjects. We will be holding our School Development Conference with staff and governors in September, at which we will be identifying priorities and actions for the coming year.
